It is lovely to report that two of our alumni, Grace Cusack and Olivia Holroyd, have established their own business. Here’s what they say about how they set up the venture.
We met whilst both attending Oxford Media and Business School in 2016. We would describe the course as one of the best things we have ever done. What we learnt was invaluable, and the industry experience gained has helped us enormously in our careers and in setting up Go-PA.
In 2017 we moved to London and began our careers as PAs. The interview preparation we learnt at OMBS, and having networks with some of the best recruitment agencies, was invaluable. It allowed us to be as prepared as possible and gave us the best opportunity to find our dream jobs. Starting our first positions in London was terrifying but very exciting. We were used to being thrown whatever tasks were required because a year at OMBS is very similar to the working world.
We soon realised we both shared an incredible passion to be our own boss and to set up our own business. We saw there was a gap in the market for virtual / freelance PAs. Clearly we are moving into a more ‘virtual’ world as a norm. We could see that now would be the right time to pursue our dream.
We count ourselves very lucky to have met as it certainly takes a particular type of person to have this drive and determination. Our organisation skills, network and understanding of the business industry learnt at OMBS, gave us the confidence to set up Go-PA.
