Meet Kitty, one of our July 23 graduates, who we were delighted to catch up with to hear about her role working as an Operations and Marketing Assistant in London.

Kitty had her work experience placement at the Little Houses Group in July 2023 as part of the Professional Business Diploma curriculum.  Little Houses Group are a London-based exclusive family members club “offering parents somewhere that they love visiting just as much as their children do”, says founder Charlie Gardiner.

Following the placement, she found a permanent role advertised after going onto the members portal noticeboard, and she took up a permanent position in August 23.

Small Businesses Offer Exciting Opportunities At Graduate Level Entry

Initially employed in the marketing department, Kitty now also reports to both the Membership and Property Directors, and, as is often the case with small companies, she is now involved with multiple projects.

She told us she loves seeing the new venues being brought to life, from the ground up. The newest club to the group, Jesse’s House,  will be located in Parsons Green and will offer families an indoor and outdoor swimming pool.

It is in such high demand that club membership sold out in just 11 minutes after launching and they have a long celebrity-filled waiting list for places!

Along with the Director of Property, Kitty often visits Jesse’s House and finds herself talking to contractors, choosing fixtures and fittings, and generally being given the opportunity to become hands-on in the development of the new club.

IT Skills For Project Work

Using the multiple skills she was taught at OMBS, she has pulled together mood boards and costing spreadsheets for the new venues for lighting, mirrors, and furniture, and even researched bathroom fittings. As she rightly points out, “It’s the smallest details that make the biggest impact.”

Following her work experience week where her tasks were largely administrative, Kitty now feels she can bring genuine value to the role using the skills she acquired while studying for the Professional Business Diploma at OMBS.  Skills that overall set her apart from other graduates and helped her land the role.

Kitty’s maturity and fondness for the brand are evident when she describes her role. She is knowledgeable and passionate about this fabulous and innovative family members club and nursery.
