Meet OMBS graduate Bella, who loves her role in recruitment, based in the exclusive area of Mayfair in London!
When did you graduate from OMBS?
I graduated from OMBS back in 2021.
What is your current job role title and company name, and where are you working in terms of location?
I’m a Senior Consultant with Tiger Recruitment, based in the West End of London.
What are the highlights of your career to date?
I joined Tiger soon after graduating from OMBS, and have been promoted three times since joining in 2022. In my role, I work with inspiring people – my management team, colleagues, clients, and candidates. I’ve also enjoyed some fantastic job perks – notably an all-expenses paid ski trip to Verbier for four days, as well as an amazing Isle of Wight sailing trip.
What do you love most about your current role or industry sector?
I enjoy building long-term relationships with clients and candidates, and receiving great feedback when I help people find their dream roles. It’s very rewarding.
I am fortunate to be surrounded by a wonderful team and leadership to develop my skills further. I feel lucky to be working in a fantastic team culture. We all support each other, and coming into work feels like I’m seeing friends.
I also love the earning potential and being in a target-based role – it definitely works for me!
What skills learned at OMBS have you found most beneficial to you in your position?
The IT, Outlook, Excel & PowerPoint skills were really beneficial going into a new role. Being familiar and skilled in the use of tech meant I knew what I was doing from day one.
The confidence I developed in speaking, delivering presentations, and general business communication (for example, writing professional emails) also helped me begin my role successfully.
How did studying with OMBS help you feel confident about your early career and getting your first role?
Developing office-based skills definitely contributed to me getting a role, as employers recognise the practical skills you can bring. The interview practice and CV formatting also really helped me.
Moving to Oxford and living independently with new people also built my confidence, which made moving to London much easier!
What advice would you give an OMBS graduate?
Absorb everything you can. Ask the tutors questions and utilise their knowledge and expertise, as the skills you are learning will be so useful in a workplace environment.
I would also recommend gaining an office-based role or some experience as soon as you graduate. I took 8-months off after graduating and had to really jog my memory when I landed a role. The IT manuals you create at OMBS are definitely worth spending time on, as they support you with this if you do take time out.
